You will be able to know the age of your older Kawai acoustic piano on this list. The first step is to locate your piano's serial number. The serial number indicates the year in which the instrument was made and is the key to every potential warranty and repair service (if needed). The serial number position varies depending on the type of piano you own. 

For Kawai grand pianos, the serial number can be found on the iron plate on the right side of the piano under the music desk (near the tuning pins). You will need to "slide out" to see it on the music desk. 

For Kawai upright pianos the serial number can be found in two positions: (1) the top right side of the iron plate (near the tuning pins) or (2) the upper center of the plate between the bass and treble sections. By raising the piano lid, you can locate it easily. For Kawai acoustic hybrid pianos (K200-ATX3 and K300 AURES), the serial number can be found under the Kawai logo at the top center of the iron plate. 

While the serial numbers for Kawai digital pianos are not included in the chart below, knowing where they can be found is still helpful. The location of serial numbers for the Kawai digital piano often varies by type that you own. The serial number for console models (KDP/CN/CA/CS/CP/NV) and portable digital pianos (ES Series) is on the right side under the "keybed" (the foundation for the keys). For the Stage Piano Models the MP Series, the serial number is found at the back of the instrument.

The serial number listed here are the approximate first number manufactured for the year shown. The starting letters other than A or F is to be ignored. However, the serial numbers are not necessarily sequential for various models & the actual dates could be different.
